We have all had the unbearable hot, sweaty night sleep where you toss and turn and can’t get a full night sleep. This unfortunately has a ripple effect and can negatively impact the following day because you don’t have the benefit of a good night sleep.
Our sleep environment is very important to the success of a perfect night sleep, and a bedroom that is too humid is almost certain to disrupt this.
What do we mean by humid ?
The definition of humidity is a lot of water vapour in the air. So when the air feels wet, sticky and heavy this is an example of humid weather.
What is the ideal level of humidity while sleeping?
The ideal humidity for sleep is between 30-60%. Any higher which is common in warmer months can make it difficult to sleep for two reasons 1. comfort and 2. congestion.
High humidity prevents moisture from evaporating off your body, which can make you sweaty and hot.
How can you improve your sleep on humid nights?
.Make sure your bed linen is naturally breathable
.Buy moisture wicking pajamas
.Take a cool shower before bed
.Dry your bed linen on the clothes line outside
.If you are an allergy suffer, wash bed linen at least once a week and remove clutter from your bedroom.
.You could also invest in a dehumidifier, which removes moisture from the air.
.Leave the bedroom window open if possible.
Adjusting your to your bedroom environment, bed linen and pyjamas on very humid nights can greatly improve your sleep and this will only lead to a more comfortable and hopefully restful night .
